Offended people ruin things.

September 6, 2010

You would think that by this point political correctness would be a concept of the past, but it keeps showing it’s ugly face here and there. Say, remember the chaos that Resident Evil 5 caused when it was released? Remember the riots in the streets? The senseless deaths, the police beatings, all that people protesting…wait, you’re saying it didn’t happen? Well, you are right, still, some people cried hard enough that capcom had to listen to them. Just as some people are crying “sexism” regarding Metroid other M these days (and for some reason remained quiet every time a Dead or Alive game came out) seems this circus of being offended by everything will go on, as long as there are people with enough free time and the compulsion to feel offended.

So basically, in the case of RE5, showing black people in Africa is racist. Maybe black people doesn’t even really exist, maybe it was just a viral campaign that went way too far back in the minstrel shows era.

999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors

A very interesting interview with Kotaro Uchikoshi, director of upcoming visual novel title: 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, for the DS. The man gives frank and very straightfoward answers. It made me very curious of the game for sure.
